March Birchbox 2021

I am very late to the party with my subscription box reviews this month and am just getting round to writing this on the last day of March! The March Birchbox celebrated International Women’s Day and made sure to feature some female founded brands and celebrate powerful women. I found the contents of this month’s box pretty good, a nice variety of products and mixture of make-up, skincare and hair products, although as is often the case with Birchbox now, the sizes were very small.

Starting with the sole make-up product in this month’s box we have the Ciate Glow to Highlight in Starburst (Sunburst) (Full size RRP £26). This was a teeny little sample size but very pretty nonetheless. This applies really smoothly and although I think this shade would be a bit too pale when I have my usual multiple layers of tan, it works really well on my non tanned, lockdown face. It’s not the most pigmented highlighter I’ve tried, I felt I needed more than one application and for this reason I probably wouldn’t buy it full price, however, it is still really nice and I’ll continue to use this sample up.

There were a few skincare products this month and I’ll start with the Balance Me BHA Water Salicylic Liquid Exfoliant (Full size RRP £26). This is a liquid chemical exfoliant which claims to remove dead skin cells and targets blackheads, blemishes, pores. I found this gentle enough to use once daily on my sensitive skin, although you can use in the AM and PM. I can’t say how much of a difference this will make to my skin as I’ve not been using it long enough but I’m enjoying it and may well repurchase when it’s done.

Next up is Beautaniq Beauty Gold Angel Revitalising Eye Gels (RRP £4.36). These gels patches are infused with green tea and hyaluronic acid to depuff and brighten the eye area. Now, I’m a sucker for eye masks and I love these little angel wing shaped beauties! I can’t say I noticed a drastic difference after using these but it was a nice relaxing 15 minutes and they left my eye area feeling soft and refreshed.

Moving on to haircare we have Brave.New.Hair Reboot Conditioner (Full size RRP £11.50). This is one of my biggest peeves about subscription boxes…a shampoo or conditioner without it’s partner! I find this so, so annoying! Anyway, this conditioner claims to detangle, target reduce breakage and add shine…all good so far! This made my hair really soft and manageable…although I would have much preferred to try it with the shampoo as well!

The final product in the box are the Magnitone Wipeout ‘swipes’ Eco Friendly Makeup Remover Pads (Full size RRP £15). These little pads remove make-up with just warm water and can then be washed and reused so are much better for the environment than cotton wool pads which I shamefully admit I still use a lot!

So that’s a wrap for March’s Birchbox and I was fairly impressed with the product selection. I actually really liked everything in this month’s box, especially the reusable pads and liquid exfoliator. It was annoying that I got a conditioner without the shampoo but it was still a good product and I finished the bottle. I also found the products very, very small which seems to be a regular theme with Birchbox now…I still think it is good value for money but if you want larger trial sizes or full sized products, I’d have a look at Glossybox.
