July Birchbox 2021

This year is going way too fast for my liking, I don’t know what it is about lockdown but the past year and a half feels like it has literally flown by! It’s like we are only just creeping into summer and yet already more than halfway through July. I also realise that most of my posts start with me stating that time is moving too fast…however, I am unlikely to stop. Moving on to the actual contents of this post, the July Birchbox. This month’s theme is all about getting closer to nature and a countryside staycation rather than heading off abroad. The boxes themselves have been transformed into a floral bag which will be perfect as a washbag or make-up bag! This month’s offering is very pamper heavy and I didn’t receive any make-up products which was a shame, but that’s not to say I didn’t like what I received!

I’m going to start with hair products and the first product I received was the Birchbox Microfibre Hair Towel (RRP £15). It is super soft, therefore less friction and claims to dry hair in 30 mins (spoiler alert, it doesn’t). I haven’t used a turban towel before, even though I have been meaning to buy one for ages, so I was pretty excited to see this in this month’s box. It definitely didn’t dry my hair in thirty minutes, or any faster than a regular towel, but I did like being able to clip my hair in and not have to worry about the towel coming undone while I go about my business. Is it worth £15? I honestly don’t know…how much do towels usually cost? Are hair turban towels more expensive than normal towels? You guys probably know better than I do.

The next hair product in this month’s box was the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Therapies: Egyptian Jasmine and Mandarin (Full size RRP £37). If you haven’t heard of PK Elasticizer before then you must have been living under a rock…although this is a limited edition so I’ll forgive you for not knowing about this specific product. As with the original, this is a pre shampoo treatment which claims to boost elasticity, moisture and strength. I’ve been through multiple bottles of this and love it! I will admit that I find it a pain in the arse having to wet my hair, leave on for 20 mins and then get back in the shower but I clearly think it’s worth it otherwise I wouldn’t keep going back for more. First of all, I love the smell of this edition and it lasted a while so I kept getting whiffs throughout the day…It also left my long and tangled hair feeling super soft and manageable. I only managed a couple of uses out of the sachet as I have very long hair but I loved every bit of it!

Moving on to skincare, I received two products this month, the first of which being the Arrow Radiant Skin Moisturiser (Full size RRP £18). This is a daily moisturiser which provides a subtle sheen as well as hydrating and smoothing. I was running out of moisturiser so this came at the perfect time and I was pleasantly surprised. It’s nice and light which is what I look for in a moisturiser, sinks in well and doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy. It also has a nice, fresh scent, although I can’t put my finger on what it reminds me of. I only wish the sample size was bigger as it’s not going to last me much longer!

The next skincare product is the Re.Fill Beauty Balm and I got the shade Light Green (Full size RRP £11). So this looks like a lip balm but apparently is so much more – you can use it on cuticles, dry patches, eyebrows…basically anywhere that needs a little TLC. This balm is made from natural oils, hyaluronic acid (I even wrote that without having to check the spelling), ceramides (I had to check the spelling for that though) and squalane, so is super hydrating! It has a lip balm like texture and to be honest, that is probably all I will ever use it for…not that I’m complaining, I love a good lip balm and this does the job well. The packaging is also refillable so also better for the environment!

The last item I received this month is the Beauty Pro Foot Therapy Collagen Infused Bootie with Removable Toe Tip (RRP £4.95). These foot masks contain marine collagen and peppermint to nourish and moisturise tired tootsies. I am already a fan of foot peel masks and was excited to see a moisturising version…unfortunately I was a little disappointed in the overall result. The boots didn’t seem to have as much product inside as I expected so I did end up massaging them to try and ensure my whole foot got covered. Afterwards my feet did feel nice and soft which was good but the effect didn’t last very long, I wouldn’t say they do anything more than a foot cream. Also…what’s with the removable toes???

So there we have it, July’s box done and dusted. This was a very pamper heavy box and I was a bit sad not to see any make-up products this months. However, I really liked most of the products I did receive and will get use out of everything. I especially liked the Philip Kingsley hair mask and Arrow moisturiser. I will definitely keep using the hair towel, although it doesn’t dry hair as quickly as it claims! The only item I was a bit disappointed with were the foot masks, but I’m really glad I had the opportunity to try them out.
