August Glossybox 2021

My August Glossybox was delayed this month but yay, it’s finally here! Glossybox are celebrating their 10th Birthday and this month’s box is worth over £75! The box design is super fun, featuring shiny disco balls and lots of teeny sparkly stars…definitely a keeper. As for the contents, I received two full sized products, two deluxe minis and an extra little treat, as well as a great mix of make-up and skincare products. But let’s not beat around the bush and just get to the good stuff…

Starting with make-up and my favourite item from this month’s box is the Steve Laurant Celebration Eyeshadow Palette (RRP £23). I love the shades and there is a mix of matte and shimmer shadows with enough variety to go for a subtle look to all out glam. It isn’t the most pigmented but blends really well and you can build up the shades easily for more impact. The palette also comes in a super cute lilac case which will look awesome in my make-up bag. LOVE!

The other make-up item in this month’s box (also full sized) is the Lottie London Ombre Blush in Haze (RRP £5.95). This is SO pretty! I love the pink/ peachy colour, it looks like a sunset in blush form! This is small but a little goes a long way so will last ages…be careful not to be too heavy handed if you don’t want to go down the clown route. The blush itself applies smoothly, blends well and leaves a nice rosy flush of colour…another winner for me!

Moving on to skincare we have a deluxe mini Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream (RRP £30, Full size RRp £87). I have used this before and loved it so I was very happy to see this in my box…this cream is lighweight yet seriously moisturising and also has a pleasant, refreshing scent. My skin drinks this stuff up, I just wish I had the bank balance for a constant supply.

The second skincare item and another deluxe mini is the Frank Body Anti-Drama Facemask (RRP £4.95, Full size RRP £15.95). I didn’t know this brand did face masks, I have only associated them with coffee scrubs (which although leave my skin feeling amazingly soft, also leave an almighty mess in the bathroom). I was intrigued by this…containing charcoal, chamomile, honey and lavender, this mask claims to sooth, calm and clear skin…yep, sounds good so far. First of all, for a clay mask, this smells really good! Second of all, it did leave my skin feeling soft and smooth and didn’t leave it feeling tight and uncomfortable like some clay masks do. Is it a miracle worker? I can’t say I’ve noticed a dramatic difference in my skin, but I will definitely keep using to find out.

I also received a hand care product this month in the form of a full sized NCLA So Rich Birthday Cake Cuticle Oil (RRP £13.80). I hadn’t heard of this brand before but apparently this was launched for their 10th birthday so it seems very appropriate that Glossybox have included it here. I have to admit, I do neglect my cuticles, and my nails in general so this isn’t a product I would usually use, however, I know that I should so I’m going to make an effort to add this to my routine. I love this little bottle, the oil is clear but with little silver stars inside, almost like a sparkly nail varnish. Aside from being pretty, it also works and leaves my cuticles feeling nourished and smooth. Is there anything else you can say about a cuticle oil?

As my last box was delayed I received an e-mail from Glossybox advising I’d get an extra treat to make up for it. I received a very tiny sample sachet of Flexitol Rescue Heel Balm…although I’m not sure if this is the extra treat as it seems to be in collaboration with Boots. Either way, I was expecting something a bit more from the e-mail as this just looks like a free sample. However, not being a negative Nellie, I had ran out of foot cream so this gave me an extra day’s worth of application and it is a very good product. This is one of the only foot creams I’ve used that actually seems to make a difference (it is what I had been using previously) and does a great job of smoothing my dry heels.

So there we have August’s box and I have to say I really liked this month’s contents. My favourite items were the eyeshadow palette, blusher and moisturiser but I will also use the cuticle oil and face mask as well so no duds at all for me this month, WINNING! I also liked the foot cream as an added treat but I was expecting something more considering I was expecting something extra due to the delayed box…maybe seeing as August’s box was also delayed I’ll get something more in September’s (I’ll not hold my breath). What did you think of this month’s contents?
