Unlike Glossybox, Birchbox definitely didn’t celebrate Halloween month with a spooky theme (I’m a little sad to be honest) but we did get treated to a ‘Crafting Beauty’ theme which I think revolves around crafting our own beauty routines (am I right? I don’t even know). Anyway, the box design is a colourful, kind of woven like design – I got the pink and orangey shade which is super cute. As is usually the case, the majority of items are sample sized but there was a cracking full sized item this month! I’ve already tried a couple of products before but there were also a few newbies for me to sample. But lets not beat around the bush any longer…
There were a few skincare items in this month’s Birchbox so I’ll start with the Sunday Riley Good Genes Glycolic Acid Treatment (Full size RRP £128). I hadn’t tried this before but it claims to remove dead skin cells and pore clogging gunk to repair and brighten dull skin. A little goes a long way with this product so it lasted longer than I expected (so it should for that price). I found this applied really smoothly and my face felt very soft, not sticky…it also has quite a nice scent. I can’t say I noticed any dramatic change in my skin, though I’d probably need to use it for longer to find out…however, at £128 a bottle I think I’m happy to never know!

Next up we have the Alologie Regard Des Vagues Refreshing Eye Gel (Full size RRP £21.50). This is a product I have used before but wasn’t unhappy to see it again. This eye gel claims to moisturise and refresh while reducing the appearance of puffiness and under eye circles. I do find this to be a bit sticky…once applied I have to wait for a minute or so before moving on to my next step. However, it does leave my eye area feeling refreshed and moisturised. I can’t say it’s made any difference to my fine lines (is there any eye cream out there that does?!) It is a nice cream but I prefer something that sinks in straight away so I can get on with my day.

Moving on to hair, we have the Amika THE KURE Multi-Task Treatment (Full size RRP £23). I have to say, I’ve tried a few Amika products recently and have been very impressed so I was happy to see this in my box. This claims to aid damaged and brittle hair…although it does state that ‘results are seen over time ‘ so don’t be expecting any immediate transformations! What I love about this (and some of their other hair treatments) is that you only need to leave it on for 60 seconds (minimum) so it can easily be done in the shower without having to stand around for ages getting bored and cold. Although my hair didn’t look any different, it did feel very soft afterwards and I should get a few more uses out of the tube so I’m hoping my hair may get a little more oomph to it! One thing to note is that the formula is extremely runny, almost watery, so be careful when squeezing it out as it is easy for it to fly out onto the floor which is exceptionally annoying!

The next item out of the box is the What’s In It For Me? Body Cleanser (Full size RRP £3). For some reason I love receiving shower gels and cleansers…I haven’t had to buy one in ages thanks to my beauty boxes. This cleanser contains rosemary leaf, rosemary oil, aloe and lemongrass oil to rejuvinate, soothe and cleanse. First of all this smells amazing…and will definitely wake you up in the morning! It also lathers up nicely and leaves my skin feeling clean and moisturised, not dry or tight. I would definitely go out and purchase this!

Last but definitely not least we have my favourite product in this month’s box, the Nails.INC Prince Arthur Road Nail Pure Nail Polish (RRP £15). I love the navy blue colour of this and it is the perfect shade for Autumn/ Winter. This polish applies really smoothly and you could get away with just one coat…although I do two just to be sure. The colour is so rich, the perfect navy. I love it!

So there we have October’s offering. I was pretty pleased with this month’s box…although the sizes were small, the products were fab! I loved the nail varnish, hair mask and body cleanser and am well on the way to using them up. I also loved being able to try the Sunday Riley glycolic acid treatment as I would never buy something so expensive without knowing it worked for me ( alas, in this case it wasn’t to be). I’m already looking forward to next month’s box!
