January Glossybox 2022

Wooo, the first post of 2022! And the first box of the year…I will admit, I wasn’t blown away with this month’s offering, but the contents did fit very well with the ‘Mindful Mornings’ theme. After enjoying the festivities a bit too much, some TLC was definitely what the doctor ordered in January and this box focused on body care/ skincare etc rather than make-up. The products were very generous in size which was an added bonus. But enough chit chat, let’s delve in…

I’ll start with my least favourite product out the box, a full sized Dr Botanicals Cocoa & Coconut Superfood Facial Cleansing Bar (RRP £9.90), but let me clarify – I definitely didn’t dislike the product itself, I just already have three of them! This bar claims to gently cleanse, hydrate and exfoliate skin all while whisking us away to a tropical island with the coconutty scent! The product itself feels nice and sturdy and it foams up well in the shower. I love the addition of poppy seeds for natural exfoliation and it leaves my skin feeling clean and soft. My only issue was finding a storage solution but I have now acquired a soap dish which has sorted that little problem. This bar lasts forever as well, hence why I still have 3 to get through!

Sticking with skincare, and another brand I have received in many a beauty box is the Mudmasky Vitamin-A Booster Blue Clay Mask (Full sized RRP £42). Mudmasky have used Bakuchiol as a natural alternative to retinol and the mask is suitable for those with sensitive skin. The 5 benefits of this mask (according to Mudmasky) are that it refines pores, firms, brightens, smooths and tightens skin – phew. I left this mask on for the recommended 9 minutes, (7 mins for dry skin or 11 mins for oily skin), it felt a bit tingly but not unpleasant, and then rinsed off with cold water. I can’t say my skin looked noticeably different but it did feel very soft and fresh. I’ll definitely keep using this and hopefully will have supermodel skin by the end of the tube.

Moving on to the body, we have another full sized product in the form of Naobay Vit C Body Milk – I actually can’t find this for sale anywhere so I don’t know if this is a discontinued product but if you want a bottle, your best bet seems to be eBay! This has a light texture but still feels really moisturising, my skin drank this cream up! It sinks in quickly, doesn’t leave any sticky residue and has a rather delightful citrus scent. The 200ml bottle will also last for ages, I don’t think I’m even half way through mine yet.

Next out the box and probably my favourite item is the Nails Inc Gel Rehab Strengthening Nail Treatment (Full sized RRP £15). My nails are long and fairly strong but I also suffer a lot of breakages as they are treated pretty roughly out on the farm so this was a welcome addition! This polish claims to strengthen, protect and brighten nails – perfect. I have been using this since receiving my box and although I haven’t noticed any real difference in my nails, I feel I definitely need to give it more time to work it’s magic and I’m very happy with it so far.

The last item from January’s box is a product I haven’t come across before – the Glow on 5th Beauty Lip Dew in the shade Berry (Full size RRP £16.24). This is described as a moisturising, tinted lip balm to soothe and smooth dry lips. I was a bit wary of the colour at first as it looked quite bright but actually it does leave just a very subtle tint which I really liked. I like the squeezy tube applicator and the formula is fairly thick but not greasy. It left my lips feeling really nourished and I felt that it lasted a good length of time compared to other brands I’ve used. It also doesn’t taste bad which is a big plus as I find some lip balms taste far too medicinal! Overall, pricey for a lip balm but I do like it a lot.

So there we have January’s box…a bit late again (oops) but I’m just trying to get back into the swing of things! Overall, I was a little disappointed compared to previous boxes but I do always find that the January editions focus more on skincare etc so it wasn’t really a surprise. There were also a few repeat products which took away some of the fun for me this month. Saying that, there wasn’t anything that I won’t get use out of and I particularly liked the nail treatment and the lip balm. All in all, great value for money as always and a nice little treat to brighten up a dreary month!
