March Birchbox 2022

Oops, another very delayed unboxing post! I’ll make this one fairly brief seeing as it isn’t available for purchase any more. As usual the box design was bright and bold with the slogan “WE ALL DESERVE TO FEEL ICONIC” emblazoned across the lid. The contents were equally as bold and colourful and there was a good mix of make-up, skincare, haircare etc (although as usual, mostly trial sizes).

I’ll start with the sole make-up item in this month’s box which was Eyeko Lash Alert Mascara (full size RRP £19). I have to say I was a little disappointed to receive this as I have tried a lot of this brand’s mascaras and haven’t liked any of them but I stayed hopeful that this could change my mind! This mascara is infused with caffeine, fibres, amino acids and shea butter to give strength and elasticity to lashes as well as volume and curl. I did feel that this gave my lashes a volume boost, but still not as much as I would ideally like. It also left my lashes looking nicely fanned out but I did find that it smudged throughout the day. All in all, not bad and I will finish the tube but I won’t repurchase once it’s empty.

Moving on to skincare we have the VQ Rose Petal Jelly Toner (full size RRP £19.99). I was very pleased to see this in the box as my toner was about to run out and I didn’t have a back up. This contains hyaluronic acid and rose extract and claims to nourish and hydrate skin…so far so good! The texture is very different to my usual liquid toner…it is a fairly thick, jelly-like substance and I was initially worried that it wouldn’t spread well over my skin. I needn’t have bothered however, it sweeps on easily and smoothly and my skin felt soft and hydrated. I am still making my way through the tube and although I am enjoying the product itself, I do feel that the amount needed to cover my face would mean that I would get through a full sized tube fairly swiftly, which at £19.99 a pop, wouldn’t be ideal. Other than that though, it’s a thumbs up from me!

The second skincare product in the March box was the Kueshi Raspberry Vit-C Day Cream (full size RRP £8.50). Kueshi is a brand I have come across a few times in beauty boxes and I have always been pleasantly surprised but I hadn’t tried a face cream before so was intrigued. This cream contains Vitamin C Raspberry extract (hence the name), green tea and thyme and claims to tackle imperfections, energise and protect skin. First of all, this smells fab, an almost fruity scent…I know this may put some people off but I can say it didn’t cause any irritation on my sensitive skin. It is a fairly light moisturiser and it left my skin feeling soft and moisturised without feeling heavy or oily…perfect for the summer months. For £8.95 a tub, I would definitely look at buying this again.

Next up we have a product from one of my favourite hair brands, the Percy & Reed Big, Bold & Beautiful Dry Instant Volumising Spray (Full size RRP £15). Considering my hair is as flat as a pancake, I was delighted to see this and couldn’t wait to give it a try. Basically it’s a spray that gives ‘body, bounce, volume and texture’…literally everything I crave for my hair! Unfortunately, this ended up being one of the only P&R products I didn’t really get on with. I found that it did work in the sense that it gave my hair a bit of oomph…however, it also left it feeling sticky and looking a bit greasy…definitely not the outcome I was looking for. Saying that, I have persevered with it and although it’s not ideal, it certainly doesn’t leave my hair looking so bad I can’t go out in public…I think I’ll get to the end of the bottle but I won’t be purchasing this once it’s finished. Sad times 😦 (but also very pleased I was able to try this as I would have been very disappointed if I had bought the full size only to be unhappy with it).

The last item from March’s box is the Aquahero Hydrating Body Balm (full size RRP £17.90). I receive so many body creams and yet never tire of them as they are always required and it’s fun trying out new brands and scents. This balm contains sweet almond oil and shea butter to keep skin feeling soft and moisturised and is made from 96% natural ingredients. The consistency isn’t too light, nor too heavy and felt almost velvet-like on my skin. It is nourishing and doesn’t leave skin feeling oily or sticky so you can get dressed fairly quickly after applying which is a big plus for me. The scent is fresh and reminded me of the beach (which doesn’t say much as I don’t really like the beach but it was pleasant!) Certainly not a groundbreaking product but a pleasure to use and from a brand I would never have thought of buying from.

All in all, although I didn’t necessarily like all the products, I really liked this box as I got to try lots of new brands and products. My favourite items would be the jelly toner and the moisturiser and I was also pleasantly surprised by the mascara. Although I didn’t get on with the hair spray, I am very glad I received it as it is something I would have bought anyway and I would have struggled to use a full sized bottle.
