July Glossybox 2022

We may be into August but here is a delayed July post…this Glossybox box design was a nice change from the usual pink (which is also very nice) with an underwater scene and a theme of ‘dive in’. This was a more make-up heavy box compared to the previous few months which I was very pleased about! Subscribers also received an extra treat this month so 6 products instead of the usual 5 which was a nice bonus…but enough chit chat, let’s get down to business.

I’ll start with make-up as there were a few products in July’s box, and first up is the full sized Josephine Cosmetics Eye Define Graphic Eyeliner (RRP £19). This is a black liquid liner with a felt tip like nip – not too fine, not too thick. This is fab for definition and I managed to create a sharp flick not quite with ease but that was down to my own lack of skills (will I ever master the perfect flick?!). Anyway, a nice waterproof, black liner that stays in place all day – boxes ticked.

Next up is the Revolution Glow Bomb (RRP £5)…now I originally thought this was a cream blusher (and groaned, ugh not another one) but it turns out this is actually a lip balm, of which you can never have too many in my opinion. First of all, I love the shiny, metallic packaging, very luxe for a lip balm. The colour goes on fairly sheer and leaves a nice, almost glossy finish but doesn’t feel sticky like a gloss. It also feels nice and moisturising on lips and is perfect for popping in a handbag.

Moving on to the deluxe sized Nails Inc Nail Polish (Full Size RRP £15, Deluxe Size RRP £11). I received the shade Mayfair Lane, a super pretty pinky/ nude colour which is right up my street! This applies nice and evenly, I could probably have got away with using just one coat but added a second anyway and the result was an even, glossy colour. It only lasted a few days before chipping but this is no less that any other brand I’ve tried, being out and about on the farm wreaks havoc with my nails! I love this polish and this is a shade that can be worn all year round.

Another nail product in this month’s box is the Glitterbels Nail File (RRP £1.20). This isn’t the fanciest looking nail file but it is very gritty and gets the job done quickly. I had some jaggy nails and this whipped them into shape in seconds! Apparently you can also wash and reuse this file which I haven’t tried yet but it sounds very handy.

Moving on to hair, we have the Brave New Hair Soothing Scalp Tonic (RRP £15). I don’t tend to have issues with my scalp so this isn’t a product I would usually use…but this is one of the benefits of subscription boxes! At first I thought this was a wash out product but then discovered it is meant to be applied to damp hair before drying. It is quite watery so be careful not to lose a load of product (lesson learned the hard way) but once it was in my hair, it wasn’t noticeable and I didn’t feel it made my roots heavy or greasy. I can’t say I noticed any difference from using this but like I say, I don’t have any problems with my scalp…so I can’t really say anymore on that.

The last item from this month’s box and probably my least favourite is the Dessata Detangling Hair Brush (RRP £8). It’s not actually a bad product, it’s a cute colour, it detangles my hair fairly well…but it just looks really cheap! It does work, but I would much rather use my tangle teezer or wet brush which feel a bit more sturdy.

So there we have July’s Glossybox, all in all I really liked this box and loved that there were a few more make-up items than in recent boxes. My favourite products were the Nails Inc nail polish, the Jospehine liquid liner and the Revolution lip balm…I will get so much use out of these! The nail file is also incredibly handy and although I wasn’t overly impressed with the scalp tonic and hair brush, they are still not bad products at all. As always, fantastic value for money and I got the opportunity to discover some new products!
