August Glossybox 2022

Here we go again, another summer is nearing it’s end…I’m still hoping for at least one more blast of heat before it disappears altogether but seeing as I’m in Scotland, I’d better not get my hopes up too much. This month’s Glossybox theme is ‘The Art of Beauty’ and hopes to influence subscribers to discover their artistic flair…whatever that means. The box design is a work of art itself and as always subscribers were treated to 5 beauty products inside…so let’s take a look inside!

Seeing as we are going down an artistic route, I’m going to start with make-up and the first product this month is the deluxe sized Pixi Beauty Blush Duo in Peach Honey (RRP £8, full sized RRP £18). This is a blush/highlighter duo with a very fine powder consistency. The blush is a pale pink shade which is complemented by the shimmery highlight, although I do find the blush isn’t very pigmented so I need quite a lot (or so it feels) to get it to show up on my skin. However, the colours work well together and give a very pretty, natural radiance…Perfect for every day!

Next up are the Land of Lashes false eyelashes (RRP £7). At first I thought these looked a bit too big but actually, once they were on they looked natural but glam and fluttery…a bit much for daytime but perfect for an evening look. I found these fairly easy to apply (well, as easy as falsies can be) and they lasted all night until I took them off again. I also found they didn’t lose their shape when cleansed so I should be able to use them again.

Moving on, we have the Luxie 640 Blush Brush (RRP £18). At first look I felt this was going to be a cheap, useless brush…but I was wrong! This tapered brush is so soft, I didn’t even want to apply make-up with it, I’d happily have just sat and stroked my face! But in the name of research I gave in and can confirm it applies powder blush and highlighter like a dream. It does say you can apply cream products with this brush but I haven’t tried that yet and think I will just stick to powders with this one. It is also very pretty to look at which always helps.

And now to skincare…the Huygens Face Scrub (Deluxe mini RRP £7.50, Full sized RRP £18.70). I’ve tried a few products from this brand and have always been impressed so had high hopes for this. This scrub contains rice powder and sesame oil for natural exfoliation and nourishment. I have to say I wasn’t disappointed…this leaves my skin feeling so soft after use and the particles exfoliate but aren’t too rough on my skin. I ‘ll be using this once or twice a week until I finish the tub but as yet am still undecided on whether I’ll purchase it again.

The last product in this month’s box is the deluxe sized Naobay Restore & Nourish Hair Mask (RRP £9.50). This mask is filled with natural and organic ingredients which deeply condition and restore hair as well as reversing damage caused colouring, styling etc. I wasn’t really sure how long to leave this on so just aimed for about 5 minutes and I did find that it left my hair feeling more soft and manageable…although maybe not as much as some other brands that I’ve tried. It is nice and I’ll continue using it but I don’t think I’ll purchase another after this tube is finished.

So there we have August’s offering…there were a few full sized products and I’d say the deluxe sized items were fairly generous too. I wouldn’t say this has been my favourite box but I did really like the false eyelashes and the face scrub and I will get use out of all the other products…although I don’t think I would repurchase anything. Nonetheless, this box was great value for money as usual and I got to try some new brands and products which is always fun. Now I just need to wait patiently for September’s box to arrive!
