October Glossybox 2023

Oh jeez, I have really dropped the ball with these posts haven’t I? I’ve been a busy wee bee this year but I’ll get caught up eventually. I’ll just do a quick rundown of October’s box seeing as it was so long ago, though the products were rather fabulous and subscribers received an extra treat that month so the box definitely still deserves it’s own post!

Starting with a product I have used before, and that is the VEGAN By Happy Skin Original Skin Essence Toner (RRP £34.99). This is a vegan and cruelty free product which contains chamomile and calendula to calm the skin. I really enjoyed using this previously and wasn’t disappointed this time around. I applied after cleansing and it left my skin feeling fresh and clean…it also removed any remains of make-up if my cleanser had missed any. Perfect for sensitive skin too…though I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t pay almost £35 for a toner no matter how good it was!

Sticking with skincare I received a little pot of Nivea Soft Moisturising Cream for face, body and hands…now I’m not sure about using the same cream on my face as I would on other parts of my body and I was proved right as this was way too thick for my face, I think I would have broken out in a matter of days if I used this as my regular moisturiser. However, this was perfect for my hands or as a body moisturiser. It’s thick but melted into skin quickly leaving it feeling really soft and smooth. It also has that signature Nivea scent which isn’t my personal favourite but is pleasant nonetheless.

Moving on to make-up we have the Elikya Beauty Illuminator (RRP £15). This claims to add radiance to skin and can be worn alone or mixed in with foundation. I was unsure of the pink colour but once mixed with my foundation it actually left my skin with a natural looking glow. It’s not my favourite illuminator (hello Charlotte Tilbury and E.L.F) but still a very nice product.

Moving on, we have the Revolution Pore Vanish Prime Mist (RRP £4.50). Now I may be wrong but I think this can be used to prime and set make-up…I’m not entirely sure. Anyway, it claims to blur pores and keep make-up in place all day. I can’t say I noticed any difference to the appearance of my pores but my make-up did last well and it provided a nice, smooth base. Definitely a contender if you are on a budget.

I received three make-up products in my box which is unusual but very well received. I got the Pixi by Petra Brow Tamer (RRP £12). This isn’t the sort of product I would usually use…I’m more of a pencil kind of gal but all in the name of research. This contains aloe vera and panthenol to condition brows and is also paraben free and not tested on animals…just what I like to hear. I was pleasantly surprised by this as it left my brows looking very natural and didn’t feel hard or sticky. I’m not sure if this would impress the hardcore brow connoisseurs but I might just be converted.

Next out the box is the b.fresh Hot Hair Goals heat protection shine mist. This isn’t a brand that I’ve used before but I am always looking for a good heat protection product. First of all, this smells amazing and I got the occasional whiff for a couple of hours after using which I very much enjoyed. I can only assume it does the job of protecting hair from heat but I can’t say I noticed a difference to the shine of my locks. Overall verdict, nice but nothing special.

Last but not least, an edible treat in the form of Cadbury Dairy Milk Fruitier& Nuttier Trail Mix. This bag contained, you guessed it, fruit and nuts but also some teeny little chocolate buttons. I wasn’t sold at first but the more I ate, the more I enjoyed them and I would happily grab another bag…at least it feels slightly healthier than chowing down an entire bag of choccy buttons…right?

Anyway, there were have it for October’s box (such a distant memory). I really liked this box and loved the extra goodies. My favourite products would have to be the toner and the prime mist but I’ve been using or have used up everything in the box which isn’t always the case. Next up…November!
