May Glossybox 2024

Another day, another Glossybox! We are now on to May’s box which had a Spring Awakening theme…I wish Spring did awaken but it definitely felt like winter for the entire month (at least in Scotland anyway). May’s box featured products perfect for the changing seasons and warmer weather (see previous comment) and was filled with the usual mix of make-up, skincare and hair products. So what are we waiting for? Let’s dive in!

The first product from May’s box was the GUVU Velvet Lip Cream in shade Mitski (RRP £22). First of all, how gorgeous is the packaging?! I loved the box that this came in and the pink tube is also so pretty! I can’t say I was overly enthused by this as matte lip products don’t tend to flatter my features but I gave it a go in the name of research. This actually felt really nice and creamy on my lips and wasn’t too pigmented which I liked. I do think the shade was a touch too dark for me but a lighter one would have been perfect! This wore well and didn’t leave my lips feeling dry and shrivelled, though I was still tempted to add some gloss on top. All in all, I actually think this is a really nice product…would I buy again? No, but that’s because I still just can’t be swayed by this type of finish.

Next up, we have the trial sized Ciate Watermelon Primer (RRP £8). I had used this before and I did quite like it but wasn’t ecstatic to see it again. This primer is full of hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and watermelon extract and claims to help make-up last longer while keeping skin feeling plump. I did like this product, it applied well and my skin did feel lovely and smooth…did it help my make-up stay in place? Meh, the jury’s out on that one, I can’t say I noticed a noticeable difference. Verdict? A nice product, I used it up but I wouldn’t buy this again.

Moving on to skincare, we have the deluxe size Eclat Skin Micellar Water (RRP £29.90). I do love a micellar water so I was happy to see this in my box. This particular product contains rosemary extract to soothe and hydrate skin. I applied this with a cotton pad and it removed all my make-up pretty quickly and didn’t leave any greasy residue on my face. My skin felt refreshed afterwards, not tight or sore in any way as with some products. I really liked this product and would definitely use it again…though I do feel £29.90 is pretty steep for a micellar water.

Next up and a product I was very excited to try was the deluxe size Philip Kingsley Root Boosting Spray (RRP £12). As someone who has incredibly flat and lifeless hair, these products are a Godsend! This claims to add texture to roots and leaves hair feeling thicker and fuller, without feeling greasy or crunchy. As directed, I applied this to damp hair, then blow dried and I was definitely pleasantly surprised with the results. My hair felt and looked noticeable fuller at the roots and there was definitely some added lift. There was no heaviness or stickiness that you often find with volumising products! I really liked this and was sad when I reached the bottom of the bottle…however, I fully intend to restock when I finally get round to it.

The next product I received was the deluxe sized ESPA Bergamot & Jasmine Body Lotion (RRP £10). First of all, this smells gorgeous! Scent is an important factor for me when it comes to body lotion and I was definitely pleased with this one and I loved the fact that it lingered on skin for a while after application. The lotion itself was light and creamy, applied smoothly and sank into skin quickly so I could get dressed swiftly afterwards without having to hang around waiting for it to dry. My skin felt really soft and smooth too so all in all, a fabulous product!

Subscribers also received a little bonus product this month, a sample of the Loreal Bright Reveal Dark Spot UV Fluid. I’m not sure how appropriate this was for my skin as I don’t have any issues with dark spots but I do apply SPF religiously so I was pleased to see this. It is quite liquidy (as a fluid should be) and sank straight into my skin. It didn’t leave any white cast and my skin felt really soft and smooth, perfect for applying make-up afterwards.

And there we have May’s Glossybox offering. I was really pleased with this box and there was lots to love. I especially liked the micellar water and the root boosting spray this month! I did pass the lip product on to a friend but that was just personal preference and I used up the primer and body lotion pretty swiftly.
