February Birchbox 2021

So obviously this is a very late post as we are well into March by now but I finally decided to bite the bullet and cancel Birchbox at the end of Jan…only to succumb to a big case of FOMO and resubscribed at the end of Feb. I did however, only subscribe for 3 months rather than my usual 6 in case I change my mind (baby steps). February’s box came in the shape of a bright blue, squishy bag which will be perfect for storing some goodies or using as a sponge bag etc. The contents were also a pleasant surprise compared to some previous months, although still not overwhelming. The theme was A Beautiful Day Begins With a Beautiful Mindset…a bit of a mouthful but sounds lovely nonetheless and I feel the products in this month’s box reflect this well.

I’ll start with make-up as there was only one product in February’s box and that was a full sized McoBeauty Lip and Cheek Tint (RRP £12) in Tango which is a kind of peachy shade. I was excited to try this as I would love to get into cream blusher but have never managed to bite the bullet and buy one as I worry I won’t be able to apply it well. Unfortunately I was proved right as I have not done a very good job of using this as a blush…I don’t know if it’s me, the product or both but after applying with my fingers, I didn’t find it left much colour, just more of an oily sheen which is definitely not what I’m looking for in a cheek product. I will persevere though and hopefully it may get better.

Next up is the Huygens Bois Rose Regenerating Face Wash (Full size RRP £22). This claims to cleanse, improve skin regeneration and maintain skin’s natural moisture balance (all sounding good so far) and contains rosewood essential oil, glycerin and witch hazel (yes, yes and yes). First of all, the scent is a little much for me, a chemically, rose smell! It’s quite watery but foams up well and easily removes my make-up leaving my face squeaky clean…possibly a little too much for my sensitive skin as my face did feel a little tight afterwards but with a blob of moisturiser it was absolutely fine.

Some may find them boring but I am always happy to receive a body wash/ shower gel and this month I got the Soaper Duper Zesty Sicilian Lemon Body Wash (Full size RRP £9.99). I’ve made my way through two of the body lotions from this brand and loved them so was very much looking forward to giving this a go. This smells very citrussy and will definitely make you feel more awake so perfect for those early mornings. It also foams nicely and left my skin feeling clean and soft. What more do you need? Soaper Duper is also a fab brand as they offer recyclable packaging (including the pumps) and natural ingredients AND support Water Aid!

Moving on to more pampering products we have Sensory Retreats Divine Eyes Self-Heating Eye Masks (RRP £21 for a pack of 7). I love this mask! I put this on when I had a sore head and oh my God it was amazing! My headache melted away and I very nearly fell asleep, this is soooo relaxing! They are spenny but definitely worth it as a treat.

The last product in this month’s box is the Birchbox Natural Green Jade Super Polished Gua Sha (RRP £12). I already have a jade roller so I’m not sure how much I will use this…do they do different things? I don’t know…answers on a postcard please. I have to say, compared to Glossybox’s “rose quartz” massage tool which I slated in my last post, this is SO much better! It’s heavy and feels much better quality plus it feels nice when massaging in my moisturiser.

So there is February’s offering and I am glad I don’t immediately regret signing back up to Birchbox! I loved the heated eye mask and the body wash. I’ll use the cleanser to the end but won’t repurchase as the scent just isn’t for me and I’ll persevere with the blush and hope that I can maybe nail the application at some point (unless it actually is the product in which case I will still waste my time trying). Now I won’t have long to wait until my March box applies so watch out for that review which will be coming soon. Fingers crossed for another good box!
